S & L Pole Testing will Begin Pole Testing Soon

S & L Pole Testing will be performing utility pole tests next week. They will finish a small area in the southwestern part of Blaine township in Cuming County and the southeastern part of Pilger township in Stanton County. They will also be working in the eastern part of Kingsburg township in Stanton County and Wisner, Beemer and Elkhorn townships. This will also include the town of Beemer in Cuming County in the Cuming County Public Power District service area.

Work is to begin Monday, March 6^th and will take a few weeks in each area. You will see S & L Pole Testing pick-ups and ATV’s along the country roads. Please be aware of these workers and drive carefully.

Most utility poles are made of wood and their constant exposure to the environment takes a toll. Wind, moisture and soil conditions all can distress or decay wood. Regular pole inspection and treatment helps to spot and take care of any problems before they become critical situations.

S & L Pole Testing is a professional firm out of Columbus, Nebraska that is an expert in pole evaluations. Employees from S & L will be identifiable by company logos, equipment, shirts and hard hats and will carry identification.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Donna Martens family. Tim Martens was our Line Foreman and worked at CCPPD for 32 years. He retired in April of 2011. Donna will be missed!

House Move will Cause Short Power Outages

Cuming County Public Power District crews will be assisting in a house move. The height of the house will require short – isolated power interruptions to allow for safe clearance. The house move will start at 8:30am Tuesday, December 20, 2016 and continue through the Cuming County Public Power District area until around 2:30pm. CCPPD crews will meet the movers at the intersection of County Road 10 and County Road G in Dodge County just west of Scribner. The home will then be moved down County Road 10 and jog over to Highway 91 and then onto Highway 275. The house will travel 2 miles north on Highway 275 to County Road B and travel east to County Road 14. The house will then be moved north on Road 14 for a mile to the county line to meet up with 19^th Road in Cuming County. From there on 19^th Road it will be moved north 5 miles. Movers will then take the house 1 & ½ miles west into where the house will remain. Customers along these paths will be notified if their power will be off for a short time. If you are out of power and did not get notified, please call so we can update our records. We request onlookers to not follow the CCPPD crews and movers when they moving the house through your area.
